Hawk GUI: Logging In and Home Screen
When the GUI starts, the user is presented with the start-up screen shown below.

The screen shots below show the initial navigation of the GUI upon start-up. The user can Log In to the system by entering a user name and password to proceed to the Home Screen.
If the user is already logged in and has navigated back to the Start-up screen they can Log Out; the GUI will remain on the start-up screen until the next user logs in.

If the user wishes to navigate back to the Home screen then they can press the Home Screen button if they are logged in. The user also has the option to set the language of the GUI from the Start-up screen. This is accessed by clicking the globe at the top of the screen. The final option available from the Start-up screen is to Exit. If the Exit button is pressed the user will be asked if they wish to log out and close the Hawk GUI application.

Once a user has logged, in they will automatically be taken to the Home Screen of the GUI. The user can navigate back to the Home Screen (from most of the screens) by clicking the Home button on the quick navigation buttons at the top left of the screen.
The Home Screen is used to gain access to the other main areas of the GUI, via the buttons on the bottom button panel. These areas are:
- Configuration (leading onto Calibration and Acquisition)
- Playback
- Facility Calibration (to go to facility cal setup and live cal screens)
- Security
- Preferences
- System Setup/Status.
The user can also select the log out button to navigate back to the Start-up Screen and log out of the GUI.
Hawk GUI Security Screen
The Security screen is reached from the Home Screen. Initially the user is presented with their current log in details: user name, password and user level. See Figure 27, below.
From here the user can edit their password. To finalize the change the user should press the Update User button situated in the pane in the centre of the screen where they edited their details.
If the user has administrative rights, they can view other users’ details (except for passwords) by selecting a different user name from the drop-down combo box in the centre of the screen. Users with administrative rights can also remove an existing user by selecting the required user from the drop-down combo box and clicking the Remove User button. Before a user is removed from the database, you will be asked to confirm your action.
Administrators can add new users to the database by selecting the Add User button on the bottom button panel. A new pane will appear in the centre of the screen (see Figure 29). Here you can enter the user name, user level (Administrator, User or Guest) and a password and confirm the password. Once the new user is added to the database that user can log in at a later time and change their password if they wish to.
If the list of users displayed on the security screen does not reflect the list of actual users, pressing the Request Users button on the bottom button panel will refresh the list with the current user list in the database.
