Hawk GUI: Configuring Channel Rewinds

Hummingbird and Dragonfly units stream data using UDP to minimize message overhead and possible delays that can be associated with TCP. However, packets of data can be lost on a busy or noisy network connection. In order to recover missed messages, the system maintains a sufficiently sized buffer that allows a message 'rewind' command to be processed to replace the missing data packet. The rewind packet can be for the entire acquisition unit or for a subset of channels in the data stream. This is configured in Hawk GUI Preferences.

  1. Click on the 'Preferences' button located on the main configuration screen.

  1. Use the small arrow to navigate to the 'Dragonfly' tab.

  1. Click the right arrow until the 'Dragonfly' tab is visible.

  1. On the Dragonfly tab, the following configuration options are available:
    • Enable the frequency roll-off compensation.
    • Send a network ACK 1/sec while streaming.
    • Configure rewinds on a per-stream basis.
    • Record environmental data.

  1. Click "Save Changes" to apply the new selection.
