Issues adding a Dragonfly to the Test Cell

There are a few reasons you could be seeing problem.

  •         First, if a D drive is not connected to the Hawk communicating with the Dragonfly.
Left-click on the Hawk that should be able to communicate with it and check for a Device Failure/Drive Failure. Using HGLSystemManager shut down the Hawk and connect a D drive (often a RAID Array) then restart the software.
  •         Another issue could be that you started the software without all of the network cables connected, or a cable has gone bad.
Go to Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings, and then verify that all four networks are connected. If the networks are not connected, connect them to the correct switch. If the network port is displaying that it is not connected, but has a cable running from the port to the switch you may have a bad cable. Ensure that the cable is connected properly and if that does not work, try replacing the Ethernet cable.
  •         Lastly, it could be a problem with the .dat files found on the Hawk unit. Shut down the software on Hawk and delete all of the .dat files found in C:\HGL Software and then restart the software.
  • If you are seeing the error "…"#" channels found, 32 channels expected…” for a patch panel unit it's possible the unit was added too quickly. Ethernet connections on the Dragonfly units within the patch panel do not power on at the same rate. It is possible to add a patch panel to the test stand before all of the Dragonfly Cards are ready, which can cause an error. First thing is to remove everything from the test cell and flush devices. Then use HGL Acquisition Terminal to check that you see all four Dragonfly modules that should be connected. If you do, then that was the problem and re-add the device to the test cell. You may need to power cycle the patch panel before doing so, however, make sure you wait until all four units are ready before adding the patch panel. (Ensure this is the case by checking in HGL Acquisition Terminal for all four cards)
