Hawk GUI: Data Replay

Hawk GUI Playback Configuration Screen

The Playback Configuration screen can be accessed from the Home screen by clicking the Playback button.

From this screen, the user can browse the database for engines, tests, configurations, recordings, segments and manoeuvres. Users can browse the database tree by expanding each node in same manner used in other applications such as Dataviewer and Rawviewer.

Data Playback Main Screen

The first level in the tree represents engines. The subtype, build number and serial number are given beside an engine.

  • The second level represents the tests.
  • The third level represents the configurations.
  • The fourth level represents the recordings. The date and time the recording was started is given next to it.
  • The fifth level represents segments. The date and time the segment was started is given next to it.
  • The sixth level represents the manoeuvres. The manoeuvres are labelled with their manoeuvre ID string.

At any level in the tree, a user can click on a node to get more detailed information in a grid underneath the tree view.

Data Replay DB Tree

Once a manoeuvre or segment has been selected there are 3 choices.

1) If the user wants to replay the data that they acquired during a manoeuvre or segment then they should press the Configure button on the bottom panel will activate. Click this button to configure the system to playback the selected manoeuvre or segment. This allows the user to see the original signals played as they were during the live test and they can view the channels as if in a live test using the HawkEye.

2) If a node in the tree view has a red border then it is not in the local acquisition database and the data is archived on the Hercules. In this case, the data must be restored to the acquisition system by pressing the Restore button. Hercules will begin restoring the required files and a restore item will appear in the Playback Pages restore list, accessible by pressing the “View Restore Details” button. The playback page shows the current number of items being restored to the right of the tree view. While an item is being restored the associated nodes in the tree view have a blue border.

3) View the real-time performance data (RMS bands, Single Band Pk-Pk and Order Track and Phase data) that can be captured by the HawkEye Server. To do this press the “Real Time Data” button. This will take the user to the Real-time Data Viewer screen where they can view static plots of the data outlined above.

When a recording, segment or manoeuvre has been selected in the tree view the user can view the acquisition log (if the data is available in the local database). The acquisition log is written by the hawk controller during acquisition.

Hawk GUI Playback Review Screen

To get to the Playback Review screen, the user must select a segment or manoeuvre on the Playback Configuration screen and then click the Configure button.

The Playback Review page is very similar to the Data and Manoeuvre Review screen, except that users cannot edit data or authorise anything.

When the GUI changes to this screen, the user will be prompted to select which channels they wish to view data for. As with the Data and Manoeuvre Review screen, the user can re-request data for a different selection of channels at any time.

After selecting channels, the Playback Review screen will request the data for those channels along with the manoeuvres and events that occurred in the segment or manoeuvre being played back.

After the data has been displayed on the screen, the user can begin playback. To do this the user can click anywhere in the tacho or non-tacho channel graphs to place the playback marker. This appears as a red dashed vertical line on the display. The user should then click the Play button on the bottom panel.

If the user wants to play the data from the beginning then they should not place the playback marker but instead just press Play.

Whilst data is playing back, the dashed marker line will move across the screen in time with the playing data. When the marker reaches the end of the segment or manoeuvre, the playback will be stopped automatically.

It is possible to loop playback so the data will be continuously replayed. To do this the user should tick the Loop Playback box under the graphs on the left hand side.

As with manoeuvre review, it is possible to hide the tacho or non-tacho channel graphs. It is also possible to view the tacho channels in RPM or Percent. The user can also zoom in on the graph and pan left and right in exactly the same way as manoeuvre review.

If there are events present, then the user can view the events graphically and in the grid at the bottom of the screen by using the bottom right radio selection buttons. This is also where the user can choose to view the manoeuvres grid.

If at any time the user wants to playback a different segment or manoeuvre then they should stop the current playback and return to the Playback Configuration screen to select a new item to play.
